A remarkable lady - ROSE -

Rose
"5 April 1910 - 27 April 2012
Sadly Rose passed away yesterday, she was 102. The photo was taken on her last visit to Spain when she was 93. We had a lovely time with her and Barbara.

Ken and I went to see her last October when she was still living in her own home, it was not long after when she felt it was time to go into a care home.

Rose was a very remarkable lady and we will always remember the happy times when she visited us, especially  when we were in Dorset and she sailed with us on our boat. There were a few times when we rowed out to the boat in less than good weather and got soaked in the process, Rose took it all in her stride she was after all only in her 80's then.

Storm

This is Storm one of Shula's friends at doggy school. They don't meet every week as Sandie and Storm quite often go to the Saturday class. Shula and I always go on Sunday, but they go mad when they see each other and Storm chases Shula which is her favourite game. Most of the other dogs get fed up and give up as she never lets them catch her. Storm is the only one who will chase her forever.

Parakeets at Benalmadena Marina

Parakeet nesting in the Palm tree
Tuesday 31st. January.
Benalmadena Marina
Ken and I took Bev and Alan to Benalmadena Marina. Bev took these photos of the Parakeets nesting in the Palm trees. I don't know how long they have been nesting there as it is a couple of years since we last visited this part of the marina but they certainly were not there on our last visit.

Benalalmadena Marina

Preening Parakeets
Ken and I first came to this Marina in our boat Locksley Lady in 1992. We stayed for 7 months throughout the winter 92/93.
We had a very memorable time and made lots of friends, some we are still in touch with.
The marina was a very different place in those days and not so built up. There were lots of stray cats about but no Parakeets.

Scruffy

This is Scruffy a little dog that attends Calahonda pet dog school. Unlike Shula he is really good at the agility class. He loves the see-saw and the tunnel, both of which Shula avoids. He is also a rescue dog and a very happy little chap.

Shula behaving oddly

Pippa
Shula has suddenly taken to growling at Pippa. This has started in the last few weeks, why we don't know. Mostly she ignores the cat and in the past if the cat got on a sofa Shula is was on, the dog either got off or took no notice, now she has a little growl. We immediately tell her off and she stops but it would be nice to know why this behaviour has suddenly started.

We did wonder if it has to do with losing Chia. Shula does know I think, that Chia is dead as she was with me when I found her. She was very concerned when I carried Chia home and I do believe animals understand these things. This is the only explanation I can think of, as nothing else has changed. It would be really nice to know what was going on in their minds. Although the cats have never really been friendly with the dog they have got along and I don't want to start having problems with them now.

Calahonda Dog Park

I have joined a group on facebook that is campaigning for a dedicated dog park in Calahonda.

The photo is of the piece of land we want to use. The ground at the moment belongs to the Autopista, but it has been in the pipeline to hand over to Calahonda for years now. We want the process speeded up, then convince the board of Calahonda it would be good for the Urbanisation to have a dedicated dog park similar to the one they have in Fuengirola.
